Floss Aspen strives to make preventative dental care accessible for all. We are licensed healthcare professionals and want you to understand how we can help you achieve greater oral health and overall well-being with regular dental hygiene care. Below are the services that are offered.
Periodontal Evaluations
At Floss Aspen we value the importance of change, whether positive or negative. This is why getting a thorough baseline at your first appointment is necessary. Making sure we understand where you are starting from at your initial visit is vital to providing the most comprehensive preventative oral care.
The oral systemic connection is at the basis of our philosophies and achieving teeth free of plaque and tartar is only a part of what we do. In our years of experience and understanding of collaborative healthcare, Floss Aspen has whole-person health at the forefront of treatment planning because your oral health is not separate from your physical and mental health. This is why we work closely with a team of trusted healthcare providers that can help address other aspects of your care.
The most common question we receive is “can I just get a cleaning?”. The process of removing plaque and tartar build up from your teeth is the therapeutic procedure we all seek from our dental hygienist, but failing to diagnose oral diseases is neglect as a healthcare provider.
New patients and any established patients that have had significant changes to their overall health undergo a comprehensive evaluation of their periodontal condition with periodontal probing and charting, an oral cancer screening, airway assessment, evaluation and recording of their dental and medical history and general health assessment. From here can we provide the treatment that is necessary which can range from a preventative dental prophylaxis to the more involved treatment of scaling and root planing. Yearly periodic exams are performed to ensure optimal ongoing care.
Radiographs
Radiographs are taken based on the individual and their risk-level to assess periodontal status and check for dental abnormalities. This aids in the dental hygiene diagnosis, treatment planning, and identification of the need to make necessary dental referrals.
Simply Perio™ Salivary Testing
Simply Perio™ is a quick, non-invasive saliva test that identifies bacteria linked to gum disease. It helps us better understand the cause of inflammation or periodontal concerns and allows for more personalized, targeted care focused on prevention and long-term oral health.
EMS Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT)
EMS Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT) is a modern, minimally invasive approach to professional dental cleanings. Using advanced airflow technology, warm water, and fine powder, GBT gently removes harmful biofilm while being more comfortable and effective than traditional polishing methods. This evidence-based protocol allows us to clean precisely, preserve healthy tooth structure, and support long-term oral and overall health.
Prophylaxis
If it is determined that you are free of gum disease, the routine preventative procedure to remove plaque, stain and tartar build up is what you need to maintain your oral health. Personalized oral health care instructions will be reviewed and a maintenance schedule will be recommended to maintain optimal health of your teeth and gums. After your initial appointment for an evaluation, all dental hygiene appointments include a review of your medical and dental history, oral cancer screening, plaque assessment with oral hygiene review, and periodontal exam.
Gingivitis Treatment
If you are found to have bleeding, inflamed, red, tender gum tissue accompanied by plaque and tartar build up, a treatment plan to address this more involved dental hygiene procedure may be recommended. Gingivitis is reversible but left untreated can lead to periodontal disease.
Periodontitis Treatment (Scaling and Root Planing)
Periodontal disease is a progressive infection of the gums and bone of your periodontal ligament. If you are found to have periodontal disease after your initial or re-care evaluation treatment to address this is called scaling and root planing. This involves removing plaque and tartar build up that extends below the gum tissues causing harmful bacteria to destroy tissue and bone and enter our bloodstream which is linked to cardiovascular disease, diabetes, low-birth weight babies. Most people are unaware they have periodontal disease but this silent disease can eventually lead to loose teeth and tooth loss.
Periodontal Maintenance Program
If you’ve had a history of scaling and root planing, this maintenance program will be recommended to monitor the disease as it can only be maintained because bone does not grow back.
Fluoride Treatments
Fluoride treatments are offered as an optional preventive tool to help strengthen enamel and reduce the risk of tooth decay. Rather than using fluoride routinely, recommendations are made based on individual risk factors such as cavity history, enamel strength, saliva quality, diet, and overall oral health.
Our approach emphasizes education and informed choice. For patients who prefer non-fluoride options, we offer alternative remineralization strategies and focus on addressing root causes, including biofilm management, breathing patterns, and oral habits. The goal is to support long-term oral health with care that is personalized, thoughtful, and minimally invasive.
Silver Diamine Fluoride
This topical antibiotic is used to treat hypersensitivity and arrest cavities. It was given the FDA designation as a breakthrough drug due to its effectiveness. This noninvasive, affordable and painless treatment is great for sensitivity, root exposure, treatment of small cavities and works well for fearful patients. This revolutionary treatment is fast and easy to apply and a great alternative for the treatment of cavities.
Dental Sealants
This protective material is a barrier that is applied to the biting surfaces of your teeth where deep grooves catch plaque and bacteria. This preventative measure has been shown to reduce the occurrence of cavities by 80% and is best placed once the first and second molars erupt around 6 and 12 years old. Although most effective when placed early, adults can still benefit from this preventative treatment.
Teeth Whitening
Floss Aspen offers professional in-office and at-home teeth whitening. Our trained professionals can help you decide which treatment is right for you by doing a shade assessment and discussing lifestyle habits to guide you to achieve your maximum smile potential.
Myofunctional Therapy
Myofunctional therapy is an exercise-based therapy to retrain the orofacial muscles for proper resting posture as it relates to oral, airway and overall health. Visit Aspen Myo to learn more about Myofunctional Therapy
